Texans Cheerleader Vanessa wrapping up week at Pro Bowl

Posted by Nick Scurfield on January 26, 2013 – 10:00 am

Pro Bowl Texans Cheerleader Vanessa checks in from Hawaii…

Aloha!

I can’t believe the week is nearly over. I feel like I just landed! Friday was a great “relaxing” day. Most of the Pro Bowl Cheerleaders had the day off and took advantage of it- we hit the International Market for shopping and then the BEACH! We were stoked to finally enjoy the gorgeous weather, soak up the sun and put our feet in the Pacific Ocean.

After lunch with my mom and aunt, I had to get ready for “Eat The Street,” an event that gathered different food trucks and entertainment. The Pro Bowl Cheerleaders performed together for the first time. It was so much fun! After our performance we introduced ourselves to the crowd… There were plenty of Houston Texans fans in the audience! We signed tons of autographs and then headed back to the hotel.

Saturday is the famous Ohana Day where fans get the chance to see the Pro Bowl players practice and to see the cheerleaders perform. I’m anxious for the day ahead and so excited to see the Houston Texans fans in the stands. ❤

Pro Bowl update from Texans Cheerleader Vanessa

Posted by Nick Scurfield on January 24, 2013 – 10:11 pm

vmhtcPro Bowl Texans Cheerleader Vanessa checks in from Hawaii…

Good afternoon, Texans fans!

Today (Thursday), we had our first field rehearsal at Aloha Stadium. The rehearsal lasted about three hours, and it rained nearly the entire time. It was such a surreal and humble time for me. I’ve never cheered in any other stadium or arena, aside from our beloved Reliant Stadium, so it was a change of scenery to have an open stadium with orange seats. I am so proud and honored to be able to stand on the sidelines on Sunday wearing my Texans uniform and representing the great city of Houston.

After rehearsal, our line (AFC Two- we are the tall girls :)) headed over to the Schofield Barracks for NFL Play60. We taught a routine to a great group of young girls and signed lots of autographs. The girls were so excited to meet us, one even burst into tears! We felt like rock stars. :)

We are heading to a team dinner tonight, and I’m looking forward to getting to know my fellow Pro Bowl Cheerleaders even more!

Aloha…

HoustonTexans.com hits Honolulu

Posted by Nick Scurfield on January 24, 2013 – 2:23 am

HONOLULU – Aloha from Hawaii, site of the 2013 Pro Bowl. I’ll be here all week to cover the nine Texans players who were selected to play in the game, which kicks off Sunday at 6 p.m. CT at Aloha Stadium here  on the island of Oahu.

The Texans’ nine Pro Bowlers are not only a team record but the most of any team in the league this year. Defensive end J.J. Watt, cornerback Johnathan Joseph, running back Arian Foster, wide receiver Andre Johnson and left tackle Duane Brown all are representing the Texans as starters for the AFC. Quarterback Matt Schaub, center Chris Myers, left guard Wade Smith and tight end Owen Daniels made the squad as reserves.

The AFC and NFC teams practice separately each day. Practices started on Wednesday at Kapolei High School and will continue Thursday morning at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Check back with us tomorrow afternoon for updates from practice and afterward as we talk to Texans players and their NFL all-star peers. “Voice of the Texans” Marc Vandermeer is out here with me and will be contributing to our coverage for the week.

We’ll also check in at some point with Texans Cheerleader Vanessa, who already has been blogging her experiences for us on HoustonTexans.com.

Texans Cheerleader Vanessa arrives in Hawaii

Posted by Nick Scurfield on January 23, 2013 – 3:12 pm

Pro Bowl Texans Cheerleader Vanessa checks in from Hawaii…

ImageAloha Texans fans!

This is Vanessa, your 2013 Houston Texans Pro Bowl Cheerleader. I made it safe and sound to Hawaii! The flight was about 8.5 hours and I was fortunate enough to sit next to one of my Pro Bowl teammates, Breanna with the Colts. I know, AFC South rivals, but she is kind and we immediately bonded.

After landing in Honolulu and getting to the hotel, we were pretty hungry, so we headed to dinner. I met my roommate, Sam with the Jags, I know, I know… AFC rivals again. Sam is so great and down-to-earth and I can tell that we are going to get along extremely well!

Day 2 started with breakfast and motivational speeches from our Pro Bowl directors. It was very inspirational to hear about the past Pro Bowl cheerleaders. We learned that this is the 20th anniversary of NFL cheerleaders at the Pro Bowl!

After breakfast, we headed to our photo shoot on the rocks by the gorgeous hotel pool. During the shoot, it rained a little and then the gorgeous sun showed up. I am so excited to see the finished product! After the shoot, we headed to our longest practice of the week – 10 hours! We are tired but optimistic!

I will check in with y’all tomorrow. I am so honored to be here representing the Texans Cheerleaders. Make sure you’re following us on Twitter @TexansCheer and my account @HTC_ Vanessa, because I am also sending videos of my amazing experience!

‘Til tomorrow..
