Halftime notes: Texans 17, Jaguars 17

Courtesy of the Texans’ public relations department, notes from halftime of Week 11 at Reliant Stadium, where the Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars are tied 17-17:

THE TEXANS

·         Scored on their opening drive for the fourth time this season and scored a touchdown on the opening drive for the third time this season. The last time Houston scored on its opening possession was in Week 5 at the New York Jets (10/8).

·         Scored first for the sixth time this season and for the second consecutive game when QB Matt Schaub hit WR Keshawn Martin for a 9-yard score on the first possession of the game.

·         Started the game by forcing a fumble for the second consecutive game. It was Houston’s 19th takeaway on the season.

·         Allowed a touchdown for the first time in nearly two and a half games when Jacksonville QB Chad Henne hit TE Marcedes Lewis for a 13-yard score with 2:56 left in the first quarter. That broke a streak of 157:40 of game time without allowing a touchdown. The last touchdown the Texans gave up came with 10:36 remaining in the third quarter of Houston’s Week 7 game vs. Baltimore (10/21).

·         Were tied at the end of the first quarter for the second time this season. Houston was also tied after the opening period in Week 5 at the New York Jets (10/8).

·         Were tied at halftime for the first time this season.

TE JAMES CASEY

·         Caught his career-high second touchdown pass of the season and the third of his career when he hauled in a 1-yard scoring pass from QB Matt Schaub in the second quarter.

TE OWEN DANIELS

·         Extended his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 77 with a 10-yard catch in the first quarter.

ILB TIM DOBBINS

·         Recovered a fumble for the second consecutive game when he scooped up a loose ball after SS Danieal Manning jarred the ball out of Jacksonville QB Blaine Gabbert’s hand. It was Dobbins’ second recovery of the season and the fifth of his career.

RB JUSTIN FORSETT

·         Posted his longest run since the 2010 season when he ripped off a 30-yard gain in the first quarter. He had a 31-yard run vs. Carolina on 12/5/10.

RB ARIAN FOSTER

·         Topped 4,000 career rushing yards on his eighth carry of the game. He entered the game with 3,969 career rushing yards.

WR LESTAR JEAN

·         Made his first career start when the Texans opened the game with four wide receivers.

WR ANDRE JOHNSON

·         Surpassed 100 receiving yards for the 41st time in his career and the third time this season. He topped the mark on his fifth catch of the game, a 23-yard gain in the second quarter.

·         Topped 100 receiving yards in the first half for the seventh time in his career and the first time since 9/25/11 at New Orleans, when he had 140 yards on five receptions.

·         Extended his franchise-record streak of consecutive games with a reception to 92 with an 7-yard catch on the first play of the game.

·         Passed Hall of Fame WR Lance Alworth for 33rd on the NFL’s all-time receiving yardage list when he hauled in a 22-yard pass on the second play of the game. Johnson entered the game needing 14 yards to pass Alworth’s career total of 10,266.

SS DANIEAL MANNING

·         Forced a fumble for the second consecutive week when he sacked Jacksonville QB Blaine Gabbert and knocked the ball loose on Jacksonville’s opening drive. It was Manning’s eighth career forced fumble.

·         Registered his first sack of the season, first as a Texan and the third of his career when he hit Jacksonville QB Blaine Gabbert and knocked the ball out of his hand on the first defensive series of the game.

WR KESHAWN MARTIN

·         Made his first career start when the Texans opened the game with four wide receivers.

·         Caught his first career touchdown pass when he hauled in a 9-yard scoring strike from QB Matt Schaub to cap the opening drive of the game.

·         Returned a second-quarter kickoff 54 yards. It was his longest kickoff return of the season and was the longest of the season for the Texans.

NT TERRELL MCCLAIN

·         Made his Texans debut. He took the field for the first time to open Houston’s third defensive series of the game.

QB MATT SCHAUB

·         Topped 20,000 career passing yards when he hit WR Andre Johnson for a 45-yard gain on the third play of the game. Schaub entered the game needing 51 yards to reach the milestone.

·         Finished the opening drive 4-of-4 for 83 yards and a touchdown.

·         Tossed his second touchdown pass of the game when he hit TE James Casey for a 1-yard score in the second quarter. It was Schaub’s fifth multi-touchdown game of the season and gave him 15 touchdown passes on the year.

ILB DARRYL SHARPTON

·         Made his season debut when he took the field on Houston’s first kickoff of the game. Sharpton spent the first 10 weeks of the season on the Reserve/Physically Unable To Perform while recovering from a torn quadriceps suffered last season.

MISCELLANEOUS STATS

·         Inactive players for the Texans were G Brandon Brooks, CB Roc Carmichael, NT Shaun Cody, T Andrew Gardner, CB Brandon Harris, RB Ben Tate and G Cody White.

·         Captains for the Texans were ILB Tim Dobbins, WR Andre Johnson, FS Shiloh Keo, C Chris Myers, QB Matt Schaub, DE Antonio Smith and DE J.J. Watt. Schaub, Johnson and Smith went to midfield for the pregame coin toss.

·         The Texans won the toss and elected to receive.
