Texans play at Baltimore next Sunday in Week 6 rematch
Posted by on January 7, 2012 – 11:28 pm
The Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals 31-10 at Reliant Stadium on Saturday in the first playoff game in franchise history. They advanced to play the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in the Divisional Round next Sunday at noon CT. The game will be broadcast on CBS and SportsRadio 610 AM.
The Ravens beat the Texans 29-14 at Baltimore in Week 6. It was closer than the score indicates, as the Texans led 14-13 midway through the third quarter before the Ravens scored the final 16 points. The Texans did not have wide receiver Andre Johnson in that game, although they did have quarterback Matt Schaub.
Running back Arian Foster was limited to 49 yards on 15 carries (3.3 average) and dropped two passes, including one on third down in Ravens territory with 11 minutes remaining as the Texans were driving to try to take the lead. The Texans drove into Ravens territory seven times but only came away with points twice.
“It’s going to be a good game,” Foster said on Saturday. “The good thing about the playoffs is that everyone starts out at 0-0. We’re 1-0 right now so we have a little momentum going into Baltimore but they’re going to be well rested and have great leadership on their defense. It’s just an honor and a privilege to play against those players with my players on this stage. This is what athletes dream of.”
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was 20-of-33 for 305 yards and one interception in Week 6, including eight passes for 132 yards to wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Ravens running back Ray Rice had 101 rushing yards on 23 carries.
“You watch the film the first time we played them, we were with them the whole game except a couple deep passes,” Texans linebacker Brian Cushing said. “We’re just going to try to limit them as best we can, get after Flacco, apply the pressure and play better defensive ball.”
The Ravens were 8-0 at home this season. They outscored opponents 190-105, an average score of 23.7 to 13.1. The Texans were 5-3 on the road. After losing to the Ravens on Oct. 16, they went on a seven-game winning streak to clinch the AFC South.
“They’re such a good football team,” Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said. “We feel like that game kind of turned our season. We felt like we could have played a whole lot better against them than we did, so we get an opportunity to do that.”

Congrats to the Texans on the first playoff win; it continues a historical trend. They’ll face a tough test against the Ravens, but with Johnson and Foster on the field (combined with a mistake-prone Joe Flacco), anything can happen.

Go texans!! Isn’t it true that they will play the winner of the Baltimore vs. Saints/Lions game??? Only if they (texans) beat the patriots??? At least that’s what the bracket shows???…

There were alot of doubters in the press and the network. Most had the bengals winning hands down. We believe in our Texans!!!!!

Remember “we’re the Houston Oilers number one” that you sang at your home games. Funny thing though…you were NEVER number one in the NFL. Don’t call us cocky fans. Tell your claim jumpers not to dirt up our website. This is a reply to a post on ravens web.

Way to go Texans. I moved up to Austin to marry my wife 5 years ago and have had to endure searching for Texans games on tv, radio etc. as the local stations showed Titans games when VY was there. Even this year the game against the Falcons was pulled to show the Cowboys. Well yesterday I think my neighbors must have thought there was a crazy man in our neighborhood as I was shouting like crazy during the game and especially during the final minutes. Great move also to honor Bum yesterday!

Like Nick said, “…the Texans led 14-13 midway through the third quarter before the Ravens scored the final 16 points.” and what I feel was bad referee calls! It will be very different on Sunday…where we’re hot and ready to Go Texans!!!

It will be a tough game, but I have tremedous faith in the Texans.
I believe the score will be 23-20 Texans on a game winning FG by Neil Rackers

I live in Baltimore but from Houston and love the Texans. I was at the week 6 game. We hung close with the Ravens until the very end. They Ravens fans up here like to talk a lot of smack but the ones that know football…know the Ravens will have their hands full. The Texans can do this, they can come up here and beat the Ravens in their own house. Can’t wait!!

this will be a different game andre about to open up the running game cause baltimore cant stack the line no more against the run like they did the first game leaving us with more options and joe flacco is an average QB put more pressure on him and he will crack i really feel baltimore is the only team we have to worry about in the afc….new england’s defense is terrible and we can stop the broncos if we played denver the afc championship would be in houston but we just gotta get pass baltimore and the world dont think we can but real texans fans know whats going to happen GO TEXANS!!!!
By Deejae on Jan 9, 2012 | Reply
i see some ravens fans in here dont yall got ya own site ?? trying to check us out i see with good reason this wil be a different game and the texans are pumped and will throw everything at the ravens once we get past the ravens should be able to win the afc title game i hope the broncos win too so houston can host the afc title game but first we have to get past the ravens which i do feel we will

welcome to texantime.
now is the time to collect yourself and remember what happened the last time texans played the ravens. ask JJ watt what its like to reach out and take destiny in your hands. an extra push during the block lets foster go even farther.an eagle eye for interceptions.and a strong arm for the long bombs.. you wont be able to hear the play calls, so brush up on your hand signals. trust in each other and go have some fun.
p.s.
always know that the fans will always be behind you. and get an extra sac just because…lol

Dont know how Kubiak can say Wade interviewing his week is not a distraction. Any moment preparing for interview or on interview is time away from preparing for game or reviewing film.

Right on Deejae. Dre wasn’t there the last time these two teams met. Sure they had Schaub, but like you said, Dre will open up the running game. They can’t just stack the box like they did last time. Texans were right there until the end of that game. Hopefully Kubiak doesn’t play Kareem Jackson too much. The dude should be a safety, not a corner. Stop Ray Rice and Boldin and pressure Flacco and score more points than them should be a good formula for a victory. Should be a close game either way it goes. GO TEXANS!!

Funny how the Raven fans have nothing to do but read up on the Texans! I see it as respect for Houston though. Cause either their that scared of the Texans or they just don’t have any good reporters in Baltimore! Probably a lot of both! GO TEXANS!!!!!

Well Texans fans get ready for baseball season, cause this is the last week of football. There is no way we can beat the Ravens.Ray Rice is just 2 nice. We should have kept Leach! Ravens are just a all around better organazation.

I am a Ravens fan, first I want to congratulate you on your win over the Bengals. I look forward to the game on Sunday; it can’t come here fast enough. I do admit it will not be easy for either team, I think it will come down to turnovers and time of possession. Like T.O would say “Get your Popcorn ready”, it’s going to be a good one.

The Texans beat a poor Bengals team… Arian Foster ran crazy on the Bengals soft run “D”…. But so did Ray Rice both times we beat them he had 100+ yards… Texans Fan Please remember who you are going again, this in not the Bungals Or the Squeelers…. We are BALTIMORE we are our RAVENS… The Texans are on the short end of the stick… Houston Fans, be proud of your team, cause they are getting ready to go home to ya’ll … RAVENS 4 LIFE….. GO RAVENS

Hey Ravensman2003 Yall beat the Bengals twice this year that true but only by 7 one game and 8 the other! The Ravins are not some awsome team. Yall beat us when we had no Andre and Brooks was playing his first game. The Ravens was Fosters 3rd game back from a hamstring. The Texans are ready for Baltimore! With Johnson back and a young gun slinging the ball down feild yall wont be able to stack the box to stop Foster and Tate! We have a one two punch at RB thats gonna knock Lewis on his azz and the sizzle out of suggs! Tell washed up Reid to rest up cause he’ll be chasing Johnson all day!

Alright here we go! To all you Ravens fans that feel the need to come here and talk sh*t do your homework first! Pass O stats: Texans rank 18th 3506 and Ravens rank 19th 3423. Rush O Texans rank 2nd with 2448 yards Ravens rank 10th 1996 yards. Yards per game O Texans rank 13th 372.1 Ravens 15th 338.7. Pass D Texans 3rd 3035 gave up Ravens 4th 3140 gave up. Rush D Texans 4th 1536 gave up Ravens 2nd 1482 gave up. WOW RAVENS R BETTER ON ONE SO FAR!!! Yards per game D Texans 2nd 285.7 gave up Ravens 3rd 288.9 gave up. Now that we all see that our O and our D has been better this year lets move on to what yall are banking on and that would be Mr. Rice out rushing Mr. Foster. This year Foster 13 games 1224 yards rushing 617 yards rec. 94.2 yards per game 4.4 per carry. Rice 16 games 1364 rushing 704 yards rec. 85.2 per game and 4.7 per carry. Pretty close but wait Foster has split the time with…….whats his name? Oh ya TATE 942 yards rushing 62.8 per game and 5.4 per carry with 98 rec yards!! Plane and simple we have out done yall at every turn this year! Yall got lucky the first time! A healthy Johnson+Tate+Foster+Yates strong arm= TEXANS VICTORY!!!!! By Ravensman2003 on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply
Stats Stats…. The only thing that matter is that the Texans are not good enough to beat the Ravens…. No disrespect to the Texans or to there fans…. I bet all you Texans fan want your team to beat the Ravens, but it not going to happen… Johnson, Foster, other then them who plays for the Texans. You need 11 guys of “O” and 11 guys on “D”. I only can count 2 on “O”…. Houston Fans just watch and see, and after we spank the Texans maybe you guys can root for the team that beat them twice this year.. GO RAVENS
By curtis on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply
Well lets see i can name Leach cause we told him to kick rocks cause he wasnt worth what yall paid him then you got Ray Lewis who is old as dirt and will get run over by Foster! Let see theres some guy that sizzled out last time we played. Also theres a lineman with some jacked up name that had no sacks in the last game we played yall. Reid was burned by Jones so what do you think Johnson is gonna do to him? Rice the guy yall claim is better than Foster but has never out rushed him and will get mowed over if he tries to block Cushing Reid Barwin or even Ryans! And then yalls leader Hako! This guy is David Carr with a little blocking! Our Rrookie is better than this guy and he was third on the depth chart. Yalls D is OK but isnt the TEXANS D and yalls O SUCKS!!!!!
