Schaub, wife have twin baby girls

Posted by Nick Scurfield on September 21, 2011 – 3:39 pm

Texans quarterback Matt Schaub’s wife, Laurie, gave birth to twin girls on Tuesday morning in Houston. Makalya Grace and Mackenzie Rutledge Schaub were born at 9:17 and 9:18 a.m. Rutledge is Schaub’s middle name and his mother’s maiden name.

“It was great to be there and be a part of that with my wife,” Schaub said on Wednesday afternoon in the Texans’ locker room. “It was a long day yesterday, but definitely a great day. I’m definitely on a very big emotional high and just anxious to get back and see them.”

The twin girls are the second and third children for the Schaubs, who were married in February 2008. They also have a one-year-old daughter named Madison.

Schaub, 30, said that his wife and baby girls are healthy and doing well. His twins’ birth came at a good time, as Tuesday is the players’ day off each week.

“We were worried coming down the wire with away game last week and away game this week that it might happen on the weekend, but I was just very excited and very happy to be a part of it,” he said.
