Mario 71st in NFL Network Top 100

Posted by drewdougherty on May 16, 2011 – 9:29 am

Texans outside linebacker Mario Williams checked in at number 71 on the NFL Network’s Top 100 player rankings. The list is pretty interesting, as Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen is ranked 80th, and Super Mario checks in a spot ahead of Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (72).

You have to figure that WR Andre Johnson is the top Texans player on the list, and 2010 NFL rushing champ Arian Foster is likely on it as well.

But back to Mario: what do YOU think about the 71st ranking? We always love to hear your thoughts.

It’s always exciting when a Texans player gets national recognition. The short story and the highlight reels on Mario were awesome! Any true Texans fan knows the controversy of the #1 draft pick in 2006. Mario continues to prove year over year why the Texans made the best choice.

He is too high on the list. Mario Williams is one of the most consistant pass rushers in the league. And he is just as good at playing the run. He is a sub-50 player on that list.

While I consider Williams to be one of the best DE’s in the league, I didnt expect him to be on the list. I feel like our Texans stars are only recognized by the Texans fans, like myself. Also, I dont agree with him being better, according to the list, then Jared Allen. But hey, props to our One-man pass rush.

mario is one the top 5 pass rushers in the league… period! he should be in the top 30 players in the league. he has the 4th or 5th most sacks in the past 4 years in a system that hasn’t had much help. this year you will see just how much of a beast this man is in a new system with more help. D ware wouldn’t have half as many sacks as mario in last year system… wait and see the pain the QB’s he faces this year will have to deal with!
